Edo P4P condemn the illicit killings in Edo State

... urged security agencies to take immediate and decisive action

Benin City: The Partners for Peace in the Niger Delta (P4P), Edo State Chapter has condemned the recent spate of illicit killings in Edo State, which have resulted in the gruesome murder of not less than 20 persons.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Coordinator of P4P, Edo State- Engr. Eugene Okoeguale. 

According  to the statement, the Edo P4P is "deeply troubled by the escalating violence and senseless loss of lives, which undermines the peace and security of our communities. 

"We want to use this medium to call on  the Nigerian Police and other relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to: investigate these heinous crimes and bring perpetrators to justice; increase patrols and surveillance in affected areas to prevent further violence; collaborate with local stakeholders to identify and address underlying causes of the violence.

"We call on the government and security agencies to recognize the sacred value of human life and take concrete steps to protect citizens. The people of Edo State deserve to live in peace and safety.

In doing this, We demand: Swift and thorough investigation into these killings; accountability for those responsible; enhance security measures to prevent future occurrences; community engagement and dialogue to address root causes.

"The P4P offers support for victims' families and affected communities; collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to promote peace; and, advocacy for policy reforms to address underlying issues.

"As a peace-building organization, we believe that every life lost is a tragedy that can be prevented or averted. We urge all stakeholders to join us in condemning these senseless killings and working towards a safer, more peaceful Edo State", the statement said.
