Edo residents call for re-election of Festus Alenkhe as Edo NUJ Chairman
Residents of Edo State have called on Edo journalists to re-elect Festus Alenkhe as the next Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, saying he's the light the union has been praying for. The residents said it is only a foolish person that will turn his back on light and follow darkness.
They made this call when a group of Journalists in the state interviewed group of persons that visited the premises of the Press Center for their weekend relaxation, on the present state of the Union. They expressed surprise at the monumental achievements so far achieved and pray God to grant him many more years to do more.
The residents who are mainly businessmen, artisans, NGO practitioners and politicians said they can now come to the press center and enjoy their relaxation to the maximum.
"I was amazed to see all that Festus Alenkhe and his team have done since assumption of office. The security at the premises of the press center has improved; there is no more fear of insecurity. The main bar of the center is fully air conditioned", said Dr. Omoruyi Paul.
"When I came back from the UK, a friend of mine promised to take me to the press center, I wasn't expecting much. But when I got there, I saw the marvel of my life; press center has been transformed. I was forced to ask about the name of the present NUJ Chairman, and I was told it's Festus Alenkhe. The man has done tremendously well and he deserved a re-election if he has not completed two terms", said Edo International UK businessman- Osarobo Ogbevoen.
"Connecting the press center to the Ossiomo Power Plant, is a laudable achievement. This has really made businesses to thrive at the press center. He's worthy of re-election", a BEDC staff who pleaded anonymity said.
Many other respondents applauded the Edo NUJ Chairman and his exco for the perimeter fence erected by the moat and the on the job trainings rendered to Edo journalists some of which are presently in the UK undergoing various journalistic trainings. They called on Edo Journalists to continue to support Festus Alenkhe in taking Edo NUJ to higher heights, saying he is indeed a round peg in round hole.
