Elders of Obayantor community in Edo seek Govt intervention over alleged involvement of non-Indigenes in crime related activities

Ahead of Edo State Governorship election scheduled for 21st September, 2024, the Odionwere and Elders of Obayantor 1 has called on the Inspector General of Police, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to come to their rescue over alleged criminal activities being perpetrated by non Indigene that poses security threats to the peaceful existence of the community.

This was made known in a Press Release signed by the Odionwere, Pa. Daniel Iyamu Emopkae and Elder Godwin Aghimien and made available to journalists in Benin City while calling on perpetrators to vacate the community.

According to the press statement, the group who were identified as non indigenes have continued to threaten the peace of the community despite the presence of vigilantes in the area.

The Elders noted that Obayantor people are Peace loving and would not want to cause unrest as election is drawing close.

They however assured that the People of Obayantor will fully participate in the Governorship election but with  the  presence of security personnels more than the previous election.

They further called on non indigenes who are involved in killings  to vacate the community or face the wrath of  the law.
