Edo NUJ Pre-election polls: Nekpen Maureen Nwine won the Vice-Chairmanship category

By Taiwo Olatunde A pre-election polls for the 2024 Edo NUJ elections conducted by Media World Initiative (MWI), reveal that  Nekpen Maureen Nwine of the State Information Chapel, won the Vice Chairmanship category by defeating  her rival from the NTA Chapel- Ede Agho by 70%. According to the MWI, Journalists were randomly selected and interviewed and their responses were statistically recorded.  "Most of the respondents said they decided to vote for Nekpen Maureen Nwine because she posses the needed capacity to move the Edo NUJ forward. They also claimed that the outstanding track record of Maureen Nwine cannot be matched by her opponent- Ede Agho, hence, the need to vote for her as Vice Chairman.  Media World Initiative is a media consultancy organisation based in Abuja.

By Isaac Eranga  Sights from the eye screening exercise Lagos: Lagos Achievers Lions Club joined the global community to enhance people's vision by organizing an eye screening exercise for Obalende and Ijeh-Dolphin residents on Saturday 19th October 2024.  The event which is the first part of the club's vision project for 2024/2025 Lions year, was done to commemorate  the 2024 World Sight Day, an annual event to raise awareness of blindness and the importance of eye care. A beneficiary expressing joy about the eye screening exercise  Over 100 persons benefited from the exercise. Reading glasses, special prescription lens, eye drops, multivitamins and health tips were given to beneficiaries based on the doctors' observations and recommendations.. NSCDC arrest KAM Industry's truck carrying vandlaised railway slippers in Kwara

By Our Correspondent As part of efforts towards combating economic sabotage in the country, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a truck fully loaded with vandalised rail slippers in Kwara State.  The truck with plate number KTU 279 XR (Lagos), was arrested at Oko-Olowo area along Ilorin/Jebba Express way Documents attached to the items shows that the items are to be delivered at KAM IND NIG LTD,, Ilorin, Kwara State. The driver has confessed where the consignments are going with documents as evidence It would be recalled that the Federal Government through the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has declared vandalisation of government infrastructure as a criminal offence against the nation.
