EDHA discards controversial Grazing Bill

Edo State House of Assembly has discarded the controversial Edo State Grazing Bill after receiving the report of a joint committee.

The bill was thrown out due to public outcry against it.

Throwing away the Grazing Bill, following the consideration of the twelve findings and recommendations by the joint committee, the house said they adhered to the public outcry of the people of Edo state during the public hearing.

The Speaker, Hon. Justin Okonoboh, while explaining the reason for discontinuing the grazing bill, said the House will device other ways of putting checks to the alleged nefarious activities of herdsmen in the state.

Meanwhile the legislative arm has given second reading to a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Edo State Small Towns and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency.

The motion which was raised by the majority leader, Folly Ogendegbe analyzed the benefits of the bill to rural dwellers.

The speaker Justin Okonoboh commended the bill and expressed satisfaction over its intention.
