Benin City: As part of measures in promoting the entertainment industry in Benin City, the management of Canada World recently rolled out a weekly program activities sprawling from Monday to Sunday. Madu, Mimisen, 23 African Fifa women referees invited for CAF Women Champions League

By the time the maiden TotalEnergies CAF Women's Champions League will debut in Egypt early next month, two promising Women Fifa referees of Nigeria extraction will in the roll call of match officials. They are Patience Ndidiamaka Madu and Mimisen Iyorhe of Enugu and Benue State Referees Councils respectively.  Madu who was among the few selected international Women referees from Africa that  handled the Tokyo Olympic women football competition, in July this year, is among the 12 referees for the coming women soccer fiesta.  The Assistant Referee cadre has  Mimisen in the 13-name list.  The tournament expected to begin on Friday, November 6, 2021 will see the Nigerian Fifa women referees take part in the necessary pre tournament checklist for medical and physical fitness test. We will not hesitate to intervene in Edo, Topolo tells killer herdsmen

  Ex-militant leader, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo(aka Tompolo), has sent a strong warning to killer herdsmen parading the forest and highways of Edo State to quit or get themselves to blame in due course. Tompolo gave the warning through Ijaw interest groups – Edo State Izonebe Development Forum, Ijaw Youths Council(IYC) and Ijaw National Congress(INC), on the occasion of his 51st birthday on Tuesday.  The groups had embarked on a peace rally around the Benin City centre up to the secretariat of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin City. One of the leaders of the group, Chief Robinson Ogunkoru, stated that the groups decided to embark on the peace rally to show their love and respect for Tompolo for his peace advocacy in the country most especially in the Niger Delta region. Edo Football Referees mourn as Okubule bade farewell to planet earth

Members of Edo Football Referees Council have expressed their grieves over the demise of Nigeria first FIFA badged Referee - late Festus Okubule. They described his demise as an irreparable loss not only to Nigeria Football Referees, but to Nigeria enlarge. Speaking, the Chairman of Edo Football Referees Council- Comrade Johnbull Nosa Okundolor, said "history has it that Festus Okubule was the first FIFA - badged Referee in Nigeria; first Nigerian Referee to officiate at both the Nations and World Cup, as well as a former National President of the Nigerian Football Referees  Association (NRA). "When Okubule was NRA President, he demonstrated high level of selflessness and proactive leadership that projected NRA to an enviable height. It came as a shock to us because this is the time we needed him most". Festus Okubule died at the age of 80 in a Lagos hospital.

Parliament is beyond law making, says Iduoriyekemwen

  An erstwhile Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, and NDDC Commissioner representing Edo State - Rt. Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen said the duty of the parliament is beyond law making. Iduoriyekemwen who is vying for the office of a Senator (Edo South Senatorial District) in the forthcoming Senatorial elections, made this comment in Benin when he paid a visit to Journalists at the NUJ secretariat.  According to Iduoriyekemwen, "Parliament don't only make laws, they ensures the projects embarked upon by the Executive meets to the aspiration of the people they are representing. That is, the projects meet the specific needs of the people.  "I hail from Ikpoba-Okha and it's on record that Egor/ Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency has never produced a Senator.  So when it comes to equity, it is our turn in Ikpoba-Okha/Egor and when it comes to the side of intelligence, it is my turn.
