Parliament is beyond law making, says Iduoriyekemwen

  An erstwhile Majority Leader of Edo State House of Assembly, and NDDC Commissioner representing Edo State - Rt. Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen said the duty of the parliament is beyond law making. Iduoriyekemwen who is vying for the office of a Senator (Edo South Senatorial District) in the forthcoming Senatorial elections, made this comment in Benin when he paid a visit to Journalists at the NUJ secretariat.  According to Iduoriyekemwen, "Parliament don't only make laws, they ensures the projects embarked upon by the Executive meets to the aspiration of the people they are representing. That is, the projects meet the specific needs of the people.  "I hail from Ikpoba-Okha and it's on record that Egor/ Ikpoba-Okha federal constituency has never produced a Senator.  So when it comes to equity, it is our turn in Ikpoba-Okha/Egor and when it comes to the side of intelligence, it is my turn. It's time for new ideas to be injected into the legislation of this country....

Localisation of UNSCR 1325 in Edo: Governor Obaseki pledged commitment for State Action Plan

 By Isaac Eranga Benin City: As part of effort in amplifying the voices of women in decision-making, the governor of Edo State - Mr Godwin Obaseki, has mandated the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues (MinSDGI) to collaborate with the West Africa Network for Peatce Building (WANEP-Nigeria), Edo State chapter in domesticating the National Action Plan in Edo State. This was disclosed in Benin when members of Edo WANEP paid an advocacy visit to the Commissioner for MinSDGI- Mrs. Maria Edeko, Esq, in her office. Speaking, the Commissioner for MinSDGI who was representated by the Permanent- Mrs. Barbara W. Osobajo, said Gov. Obaseki was interested in the domestication of the National Action Plan in the State, and as such, has directed the MinSDGI to treat it as a matter urgent importance. ... urges speedy passage By Isaac Eranga- Edo Indigenous Journalist The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has lauded the Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for initiating the Anti-Open Grazing Bill which is presently before the state House of Assembly. In a statement signed by Comrade Festus Alenkhe and Andy Egbon, the Chairman and Secretary of the council respectively, the council said that the bill is a positive development which, when passed into law, would regulate activities of herdsmen across the state. The council therefore prayed the state House of Assembly to speed up the process of the passage of the bill in the overall interest of the people of the state.

  Mr. Okundolor behind the Referees in one of his official outing as a Premier League Referees Assessor Benin City: The Chairman of Edo Football Referees Council- Mr Johnbull Nosa Okundolor said the welfare of Edo Football Referees was  number one in the list of goals set out for 2022.  Mr Okundolor disclosed this in Benin while fielding questions from Journalists as part of his New Year message. He said though the Council had contributed in the past, to the welfare of Edo Referees, in 2022, the Council would intensify its effort in that direction.
