Vigilante member killed himself in a bulletproof charm testu

A member of a vigilante group in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, Audu Maikare has allegedly killed himself with a dane gun in a bulletproof charm test. The Katsina Police Command confirmed this on Monday in a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP, Gambo Isa. According to Isa, the incident occurred when the deceased went to the house of the vigilante group leader, Samaila Rabiu in Dugul village for an occasion. He said the deceased, while using the dane gun to test a bullet proof charm given to him, shot himself and died in the process. “When the police patrol team got the information on the incident and rushed to the village, Maikare had already died and taken away by his relatives for burial,’’ he said. The lifeless body of a senior civil servant in Kogi State, Edward Soje, was found dangling on a tree on Saturday, a week after he was declared missing. Residents of Lokoja, the state capital, were shocked when they discovered that Soje, a director in the state civil service, had committed suicide on a tree within the town using a rope. The 54-year-old late director allegedly decided to take his life barely 10 days that his wife gave birth to a set of male triplets in a private hospital in Abuja after 17 years of childlessness. Soje, who hailed from the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of Kogi State, was a Grade Level 16 Officer in the State Teaching Service Commission and was owed 11 months’ salary arrears as of the time he took his life. He was said to have earlier travelled to Abuja and left a suicide note for his wife, who also works in one of the federal ministries in the state. Edo State plans new estates, towns, targets diaspora community

As part of reforms in the Edo State housing sector to open up the state to real estate investments, the Edo State Government has rolled out plans to build new towns and estates aimed at decongesting Benin City, with special packages for the diaspora community.    Executive Chairman of the Edo Property and Development Authority (EDPA), Isoken Omo, disclosed this in a chat with journalists, on Thursday, at the Government House, Benin City.   Omo said that EDPA, as a revenue-generating agency of government, has been repositioned with a mandate to pursue housing and estate development projects for the benefit of the people in the state as well as open up investment opportunities for Edo indigenes in the diaspora. Woman accused 9-yr-old boy of defiling sister

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one mrs Chinyere James, for allegedly torturing her nine-year-old cousin, Emmanuel. It was gathered that the victim had been wrongly accused by the 28-year-old of defiling his three-year-old sister at their home on Akinberu Road, Okokomaiko. The aunt, without investigation, allegedly flogged him for hours, as his plea of innocence fell on deaf ears. A resident was said to have rescued him and reported the matter to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender. An official of the agency, who did not want to be identified, said the case was reported to the police. She said, “The boy’s mother, Joy, and the aunt, Chinyere, live in the same single-room apartment with their parents. Gunmen kills CAC pastor in Ondo

An unknown gunman has reportedly killed a Christ Apostolic Church pastor, Oluwarotimi Akinroyeje, at the mission house located at Ago Gbooro area of Ore in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. According to a source, the assailant who was masked entered into the mission house at about 1am on Monday and went straight to where the deceased was and shot him at a close range. The source said the motive behind the dastardly act was still unknown, as according to him, the killer did not take anything from the deceased after shooting him dead. “The man who wore a mask entered into the mission house in the middle of the night and brought out a locally-made gun and killed the pastor. He did not take anything when he was going, he just shot the pastor and left,“ the source said.
